Welcome Professor 1/2

As you have no doubt read in the papers, the estimable curmudgeon Professor 1/2 has joined the Blog Staff here at the Academy.

Not a moment too soon, if ya ask me.

I'm sure you'll join me in looking forward to periodic stream-of-consciousness wisdom and countless pointless arguments from the dyspeptic scholar here in the virtual pages of the BCHC.

In the meantime, here's what's been bouncing 'round my consciousness this morning:

"What a piece of work is man! How noble in reason! how infinite in faculties! in form and moving, how express and admirable! in action how like an angel! in apprehension, how like a god! the beauty of the world! the paragon of animals! And yet, to me, what is this quintessence of dust? Man delights not me; no, nor woman neither, though by your smiling you seem to say so."

That's from Hamlet.

"You're wise. But there's a sadness to your wisdom"

That's from the Coneheads.

Here's my conclusion: Depression has a dark charm. Sadness has a kind of beauty to it. I wonder why that is.

Oh, and one more thing. The blogger.com spell checker didn't recognize the word "blog". That's weird.
