An Open Door at the End of the Hall

"I assume he walks. I assume he finishes up
His job and the next step is that He walks.

I'm assuming this because you don't tell me.
You don't tell me but I assume he walks."

For some reason, the man on the phone
At the end of the hall with his door open can't
Simply Ask if he walks. He must assume.

And for some reason, perhaps the same reason
Or perhaps another, the unknown person at the
Other end of the phone at the end of some unknown hall
With his door open won't
Simply tell this first guy whether he walks.

Although he desperately wants to know.

Or seems to want to know.

Don't drill down. There's nothing under this
particular surface. Just two people, only one of
Whom I can hear, talking on the phone.

I just wish he'd close his door.
